The circular hiking trail around Ibach runs along for about twelve kilometers on an altitude between 900 and 1100 m above sea level. East of Ibach it crosses the pasture hills of Hochrütte, Halden and Gaisberg. At its lowest point in the South of the valley it crosses the Ibacher Klusenmoos. West of the Winkelbach, the trail leads uphill on a short steep leg through the shady forests of the nature reserve “Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos” which covers an area of 568 hectare. In the northwest corner of the valley it crosses the nature reserve “Kohlehütte-Lampenschweine”.

Turn-by-turn directions

Cross the road at the hiking car park and start the tour at the Panoramaweg which runs on the same leg as the Weidelehrpfad and the Schluchtensteig Schwarzwald. At the signpost “Hohrütte”, the trail parts from the two other trails, leading straight on directly to the Engländerhütte. From   here, you descend to Vorderibach and hike along a short leg on the district road along the Brandweiher. On the next road you turn right and after passing some houses, turn again right and you are back on the trail which now leads through pastures.

You soon reach the nature reserve „Kirchspielwald-Ibacher Moos“ and the trail now crosses the Klusenmoos (please stay on the trail and thus protect the moor vegetation!). Turning right, you reach the Dukatenwaldweg which runs between the Hochtal and the Fohrenmoos. Passing the western Unteribach, you arrive at the Schwandwaldweg which must be followed until you reach the Kohlhütteplatz. You are now in the heart of the nature reserve “Kohlhütte-Lampenschweine” which is crossed by the national road L150.

Now turn right and follow the road on a short leg in direction of St. Blasien before you continue the tour on the signposted trail between the two roads. Here, the Panoramaweg opens to its most beautiful part, taking a wide berth around Oberibach and offering phantastic views of the alpine upland and the Swiss Alps in the south and the Feldberg area in the north.

The starting point is now approaching and you just follow the signposted trail to Schorrmättle.
