Wo führt der Pfad wohl hin?

Wonderful tour around Kniebis for young and old, mostly along narrow footpaths, with almost no difference in altitude.
The “homeland trail” is a premium trail and also certified as a Black Forest “gourmand trail / Genießerpfad". Rich in variety, it leads around the village of Kniebis, through forests, moorland and meadows, with beautiful views of the Black Forest, its mountains, valleys and lakes. Information boards describe the history of Kniebis, past and present forest uses, biology, etc. With its different sections and stations, such as a bee hotel, a bird path and the robbers’ trail, it enjoys great popularity with young and old. Visit the old ruined monastery and the “Ellbachseeblick“ viewing platform (for a fantastic view over the “Ellbachsee” lake and the village of Mitteltal to the “Hornisgrinde”, the highest mountain in the Northern Black Forest (1,164 m). Comfortable benches and several restaurants along the trail invite you to take a break.
From the "Ellbachseeblick" viewing platform, walk down to the idyllic glacial lake "Ellbachsee". Distance 1.5 km, difference in altitude: 150 m, duration: 45 minutes.
Premium route awarded the "Deutsches Wandersiegel"
The “Heimatpfad” is well-signposted. Carved wooden signs with the name “Heimatpfad” as well as the green “Kniebis” symbol guide you along the whole trail. It is a round trip and you can walk it in both directions. Here we describe the tour from the visitor centre towards the village “Kniebis-Dorf”.
Opposite the visitor centre (signpost Lammlift) turn right to Stadion (bus stop), then head for Rankweg and Ellbachseeblick (viewpoint). Continue via Parkplatz Kohlwald to Buchschollen (view). Along the hunters path (“Jägerweg”) and the bird path (“Vogelpfad”), passing the cemetery, you reach the village of Kniebis (Kniebis Dorf, bus stop, monastery ruin with herb garden). From there, follow the yellow diamond over the footbridge (Fußgängerbrücke) past Abendwieshütte (barbecue area) to Mooswiese. Via Heide, Waldblick, Beim Waldblick, Moos (“Alter Gleisweg” - remains of tracks formed by historic carts) and Lammlift, return to the starting point (blue diamond in the last part).
(The words printed in bold are the names of the signposts.)
