First a good 1,000 hm uphill, then lots of trail and lots of fun!

MTB trail route for advanced riders. Some courage and riding technique (up to S2) are also required, especially on the Canadian Trail.

And it's all legal!

Start at the Sternwaldwiese in Freiburg Wiehre. From there, follow the yellow MTB signs in the direction of St. Valentin (not Canandian Uphill!). Continue via Günterstal in the direction of Bohrer. There you cross the Schauinslandstraße and follow the signs towards Schauinsland over the Sailendorbelkar. It gets quite steep at the end. From the Schauinsland cable car mountain station, continue to follow the yellow signs to the >Schauinsland Trail<. The tower offers great views and is a good place for a break. Below the tower, the trail then descends along the "old toboggan run", a rather steep and rough passage. At the end of the toboggan run, keep to the right at the Pflughalde. After approx. 100 m, turn left onto a gravelly single trail (up to S2) to the Vordere Kohlerhau.

There begins the "Badish Moon Rising" trail, built with Canadian help. A good 3 km of pretty flowy fun up to the Sohlacker.

From there it's another 100 m up to the Kybfelsen, a nice place for a break. From there, follow the signs to the start of the Canadian Trail.

The "Canadian Trail" has been built.

The "Canadian Trail" is not suitable for beginners! It requires riding skills and courage. If you have that, you have another 3.4 km of riding fun ahead of you.

If anyone finds it too tough - there are always opportunities to switch from the trails to wide paths.

Most of the route can also be walked by hikers, joggers, Nordic walkers, etc. Please help to ensure that everyone enjoys experiencing nature!

GPS track: The track is not yet optimal, the section "Badish Moon Rising" is very rough. But the track is well signposted.

Sincere thanks to Mountainbike-Freiburg e.V. the Freiburg Forestry Office and all those involved in the project!

Author’s recommendation

For those who don't like to ride uphill, the Schauinslandbahn is recommended. Currently €19 for man and bike.
